Miller's Pond

This weekend I went to Miller's Pond in Middletown. I found more markings on beech trees, which I have photographed before. Markings like this are interesting because they are almost always found on the same type of tree, and were most likely made by two people. The trees almost invite you to carve your mark into their smooth bark, showing off scars from past visitors.

As we were walking back to the car I stopped to take some photos of the late day light coming through the trees. My girlfriend, Krista, commented on the beauty of the scene and asked to see the picture I took, after looking at it, she said what every photographer has always thought and tried to prove wrong, "it never looks as beautiful as the real thing."
